I met Kristen and Chris at Chris’s brother Jeff’s wedding. We had a phenomenal day and made amazing images for Arlene + Jeff so when Chris and Kristen decided to get married they came to me and hired me immediately. 

It is always fun to work with the same family more than once –showing up at the wedding like another friend. Chris’s parents jokingly told me they have on kid left to marry off. 

On K+C’s wedding day it POURED all morning up until 3PM. More than an inch of rain. There was some flooding here and there. Their wedding wasn’t until 5:30 PM and I never get rained on all day so we were able to have the ceremony outside and then shoot our portraits in the immediate area surrounding Liberty House. 

When it got dark we had a light rain –perfect for a few shots to freeze the rain drops behind the bride and groom!!

Liberty House did a fantastic job –thanks for the Chilean sea bass!

Nicole Contessa of Anna Rose created some gorgeous florals.

It wouldn’t have been half the party w/o Dave of DTR Entertainment at the helm!

It was a great day for all of us!!

I used to work with Kaitlin in another career. I was delighted when she contacted me to book an eSession and her wedding. 

We shot Kaitlin and John’s eSession along the Palisades almost a year ago. Great photos and great fun. Their dog even joined us for the 1st part of the eSession!

June will be my 11th year as a wedding photographer. All those years I have dreamed of shooting a Skylands Manor in Ringwood, NJ. I have spent hundreds of days in Ringwood state Park since I was a kid. So this opportunity was very emotional for me.

Luckily I had may passionate partner in photography, Jed Smith photography, along to help me make the most of shooting in one of NJ’s most-storied wedding venues!

Lauren + Danny were amazing from our first meeting, through their engagement session and on their wedding day. Much love to them both!

The 1st look was pretty moving, the first kiss passionate and the first dance was beautifully and energetically choreographed by Lauren. The entire bridal party had a role. What a happy energetic wedding!!

Table two had a sign saying 2 was then number of kids Lauren + Danny wanted to have. Hope we get to hang out and take some maternity, newborn and family photos one day. Hugs all around and a beer or two!

Michelle + Christopher’s Barn Wedding at Perona Farms in Andover, NJ and Sparta, NJ was awesome fun!

Andover Wedding photographers

Posed family photos. Nobody wants them; everybody gets em.

When I meet clients they almost all say they don’t want a lot of posed photos…they like candid photos. That’s great because that’s what I like too. After every wedding, when clients ask for prints they ALWAYS get a few of the posed group shots. Its not often the whole extended family is together –and these prints make great gifts.

The trick is, then, to be organized and shoot the group shots quickly and painlessly. You can help your photographer with a list of group shots you want. I even suggest your enlisting a family member who knows everyone and can help organize the groups.

Last, you need a photographer who recognizes a good setting and where the best light is. A photographer who can work fast and keep everyone focused on the task at hand. We are those photographers. Here are examples of us getting it right and keeping everyone happy!

A few posts back on my ever-lovin’ blog you’ll find Danielle + Chris’s Engagement Session in Weehawken, NJ. We had a perfect spring day lots of sun and low humidity do you could clearly see the NYC skyline. Fast forward a few mos and we found ourselves in River Vale, NJ in February. We love Florentine Gardens and I have shot more wedding there than anywhere except Perhaps Perona Farms. 

Having works with Danielle + Chris for their engagement session got us off to a running start on their wedding day. Getting greeted by the bride with a hug means it’s gonna be a great day.

Liberty House is a venue that exudes class. Great venue with one of the best views of the NYC skyline. Hai Li and David hired us w/o meeting in person –they live in Chicago. We conducted a couple of phone interviews and really hit it off! 

The families and bridal party were a spirited and happy bunch who clearly adored the B&G! Lots of laughs and tears and everybody wanted their photo taken with the bride and groom before they left! 

Hoping for another Liberty House wedding in 2017 –maybe in May!

I met Ana + Michael at Michael’s brother Mark’s wedding. When Ana contact me to shoot her wedding I was so thrilled as a family referral means so much to me! Also is wonderful to come into a wedding knowing people there who trust you and love your work!

Ana + Michael were married at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes, NJ. This may be the closest wedding venue to my house and it is wonderful. I wish I shot there more! ITC has been renovated since these photos were taken, BTW, and it looks even more beautiful now!

Ana + Mike are now expecting their 1st child. Here’s to hoping I will be taking some newborn photos in a few months!

I met Alicia’s Dad John at his best friend’s wedding…John was the best man. So when John’s daughter got married he wanted the best for her and Evan. 

John hired me before I met Alicia and Evan –but I wanted to meet them before the wedding. We met on the Green in Morristown and I took a few photos of them together and then I headed to the bridal boutique, I do, I do to take photos of Alicia slipping into her wedding dress for her 2nd fitting.

I got to meet Alicia’s Mom there and got to watch them enjoy the moment and bask in each others company. I am so lucky I get to capture these moments for such amazing people. I have the best job ever.

The wedding was at the jaw-dropping Mallard Island Yacht Club in Manahawkin , NJ. I shot this wedding solo but from looking at this gallery you’d never know! Mallard Island is in the top 2 or 3 venues I have ever been lucky enough to shoot at.

It was a great night. Lots of love, laughter and a few tears with the scent of the ocean in the air. Would love to be a Manahawkin Wedding photographer again this summer.

Sharon and Eric had a great fall wedding that began at her parent’s home in Wantage, NJ and ended at the beautiful Lake Valhalla Lake club in Montville, NJ. Jed Smith photography was my 2nd shooter for this wedding.

Fall foliage was at it’s peak as were friends and family who gathered for the wedding. Shannon + Eric found an amazing place for us to shoot photos between the quaint church and reception. LOVED Eric’s hops boutonniere and Chinese lantern’s –the night’s denouement.

Addie, Damian, and Dominic visited me for a quick session on November 6th. Had to keep it quiet as these photos were going to make a few appearances as Christmas presents. I wish I could have been there Christmas morning –I am thinking these photos were probably well-received!

I shot these photos in my backyard –used one light bounced off a large umbrella. Paul C Buff White Lightning 1600 monolight, Nikon D750 and either a Nikon 24-75 f/2.8 VR or a Nikon 105 f/2.8 VR lens. Used a pair of PocketWizard III RF triggers.

These turned out so great I plan on shooting Fall mini sessions in my backyard next year. 30 minutes for $150 –40 edited photos. Perfect for Christmas cards!

Dani and Chris wanted an engagement session in NJ with a view of Manhattan, Also, had to be when the light would not be at it’s best. 

I wanted some green in the shoot and some shade. I found a tiny park in Weehawken NJ. Checked it out before the shoot –trees, shade when required, and a killer view of the Manhattan skyline. 

I bought one off-camera light with me, bounced it off of an umbrella. Lighting was great!

Two happy in-love people spending time together, staring into each others eyes made it easy to get the expressions I wanted and kept the session fun for everyone. 

Dani and Chris were married 6 mos later on a snowy day at Florentine Gardens.

Stella + Ed decided to get married before Christmas at the beautiful Highlawn Pavillion in West Orange. They had a small wedding –so we were downstairs in the wine cellar. What a cool, intimate space! Lucia Rose, their daughter was about 2 mos old –I shot her newborn photos when she was just 9 days old. 

Scott Kastner’s Lounge Cricket provided the evening’s soundtrack. Two big, beautiful families collided and merged for a grand party. Ed covering the Georgia Satellite’s “Hands to Yourself” was a party highlight, but every time Lucia Rose was snuggled with Mom, Dad or family of the dance floor…it couldn’t have sweeter.

The Fountains at Walkill is a great venue. A country club with lots of green lawn and an abundance of Fall foliage at it’s peak!  The photos after the ceremony were to die for –so gorgeous. Great staff, good food and I even met Jessie + Steve there and shot their engagement photos and wedding in the next 2 years!

Maura + Dan found me on Google Maps –I am literally around the block from them.

I shot some family photos in my backyard that turned out amazing…texted Maura…come on over…light is amazing!

So they did and we shot for maybe 15 minutes. Definitely need to set-up a bunch of mini sessions in my backyard next fall!

Janelle + Shawn’s wedding was an homage to Halloween…they even entered the reception in costume! Guests were encouraged to attend in costume and to bring their own Jack O Lantern!

Wedding was at the Oakside Mansion in Bloomfield –an eminently cool venue for a wedding. The outdoor ceremony was particularly beautiful. Frungillo Caterers fed us all to their usual high standards! Guests costumes ran the gamut from simple to elaborate and really enjoyed themselves.

Lots of sweet and poignant moments …Janelle’s grandfather Tiny was the life of the party and as about a sweet a guy as you’ll ever meet.

I shot Stephanie’s brother Jordan’s wedding just over a year ago. When Steph contacted me a few mos ago I was psyched –when family refers family what better endorsement of my skills can there be?!

Jordan had gotten married in Cooperstown, NY…Stephanie + Gary chose Vernon, NJ –much closer to home. Their wedding was at The Red Tail Inn at Mountain Creek. Steph got ready at the gorgeous Appalachian Hotel. The wedding took place on a mountain top with an amazing view…we had to ride a gondola to get to the top!

I didn’t mention this, but Jordan married Katie. I am shooting Katie’s cousin’s wedding next year in New Hope, PA so I will get to see many of these clients, nee friends again. 

Sometimes I feel so lucky and loved.

I had a maternity shoot scheduled with Barb, but a few days before she had a feeling she was going to go early so we moved the shoot up. Good thing we did as she had Lily Grace early and we would not have been able to take these beautiful photos of Barb and John!

We started out in the NJ Botanical Garden an ended the shoot on the grounds of Ringwood Manor in Ringwood Brook. John and I guided Barb across some rocks to keep her warm and dry. Had a monolight attached to a battery pack camera right firing into a 16x24 softbox to light up Barb and to help with color fidelity.

I was standing in water that was mid-calf deep and so cold it hurt. Was so worth the pain as I couldn’t have been happier with the photos! I’ll post some photos of Lily Grace in a couple of days too!

I shot maternity photos for Lily’s mom 2 days before Lily was born. We were scheduled later during the week waiting for an address from Etsy…but the dress came in and Barb was feeling like Lily was going to be rather early.

Nicole + Bryan were referred by clients Lauren +
John (thanks again!). Their wedding was at Macaluso’s in Hawthorne –14
minutes from home. What an easy commute. Nicole is gorgeous, Bryan is
handsome and charismatic. They trusted us so implicitly –whatever we
wanted was good with them. As follows, we shot the 1st look in the
middle of Rea Avenue…and are so happy with the pics.

Macaluso’s has a love affair with food that you can taste! Amazing! Need
to talk to them about shooting there more often –and eating! Nicole and Bryan’s families were full of love and so much fun to work
